Lace braid tutorial
You'll need:
Three small elastics
Green ribbon
Twisty pins
A bow as your tree top
Topsy tail or big needle
Bobby pins
How to do this hairstyle?
- Take the top section of hair and put an elastic around this. This is the top of your Christmas tree.
- Now take the right half of hair from this ponytail and divide it into 3 strands.
- Start a lace braid with this hair. Only add in hair on the right side! Try to bring the braid towards the ear, creating the side of the tree.
- Add hair until you've reached about the ear and then continue braiding a little further down without adding in hair. Finish off with a small elastic.
- Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 on the left side of the ponytail. Now only add in hair on the left.
- Now take the green ribbon. Bring this just below the top elastic (your tree top) under the braids.
- Now use the topsy tail or needle to weave the ribbon from left to right and from right to left through braids. This creates the middle section of the tree.
- Finish off by pinning the ribbon into place using bobby pins. Do you have ribbon left? Then cut it off.
- Put the bow on top of the top elastic as your tree peak. Twist the twisty pins into your tree and you're done!
- Option: pin the left over braids down as bottom of your Christmas tree. You can tie the rest of the hair into a ponytail, like in the photo, or you can leave it down.
