Rope braid / twist

One of the easiest braids is the rope braid or twist: a two strand braid made by twisting the strands. Really quick and easy, but still different than a regular braid. So: perfect for when you want something different with your hair and don't have much time!

Ideas:

The easiest way to do the rope braid / twist, is with all of the hair. For a looser hairstyle you can start without an elastic, if you want a tighter twist, then start from a ponytail.

Small rope braids make a cute accent braid, like with this 5 strand headband braid.

A rope braid can also be used to be turned into a bun!

Lucy's hairstyle from the movie Prince Caspian is also made from twists.

Do a twist on each side of the head and then pin them to the other side to create a crown braid. If you like, you can add braids as accents.

A twist can be used to pull another braid through. Here, four braids have been pulled through the twists.

Rope braids are also fun to create a heart with!

Fijne Valentijnsdag, allemaal!

Vorige week gaf ik al een ideetje voor een leuk kapsel voor deze liefdevolle dag en ook op YouTube heb ik twee filmpjes geplaatst: het hartje van vissengraat vlechten en het hartje met lint vlechten. Hieronder vind je nog een aantal ideeën voor leuke kapsels voor vandaag!

Gevlochten hart: maak twee gewone vlechten en zet ze met schuifspeldjes vast in de vorm van een hart

Braided heart: do two regular braids and pin them into the form of a heart with bobby pins

Gevlochten hartje: gemaakt op dezelfde manier als het vissengraathartje

Braided accent heart: made the same way as the fishtail heart braid

Gevlochten hart met vissengraatvlechten: gemaakt op dezelfde manier als het hart met lintvlechten, alleen nu met twee vissengraatvlechten aan elke kant

Braided heart with fishtail braids: made the same way as the ribbon braided heart, only now with two fishtail braids on each side

Valentijnsdag kapsels

Vandaag precies over een week is het Valentijnsdag, de dag van de liefde. Bij liefde wordt er al snel aan hartjes gedacht, dus dat betekent ook kapsels met hartjes!

Afgelopen donderdag gaf ik in mijn YouTube filmpje Een hartje van vissengraat vlechten al een voorbeeld van zo'n kapsel met een hartje. Voor het filmpje heb ik vissengraat vlechten gebruikt, maar uiteraard zou je het hartje ook met gewone vlechten kunnen maken. Ook kun je het hartje natuurlijk combineren met andere vlechten.

Het kapsel op de foto bestaat uit twee watervalvlechten, waarvan de vlechten aan de achterkant vervolgens een hartje vormen. Voor het hartje heb ik dezelfde techniek gebruikt als voor het vissengraat hartje op YouTube.

Komende donderdag zal er nog een idee voor een kapsel met een hartje online komen. Alvast een fijne Valentijnsdag!

Valentine's Day hairstyles

Today exactly one week from now it's Valentine's Day, the day of love. When thinking of love, people often think about hearts, so that means heart hairstyles!

Last Thursday I showed you in my YouTube tutorial Fishtail heart braid an example of such a heart hairstyle. For the tutorial I've used fishtail braids, but of course you could do the heart with regular braids too. And of course you could combine the heart with other braids.

The hairstyle in the photo was created by doing two waterfall braids and then turning the braids into a heart at the back. For the heart I've used the same technique as for the fishtail heart on YouTube.

This Thursday there will be another heart hairstyle tutorial on YouTube. I already wish you a happy Valentine's Day!
